Pros

Pros

  • Shopify handles PCI, fraud tools, and payment compliance
  • Familiar checkout experience for customers who shop on Shopify stores
  • Built-in fraud analysis when using Shopify Payments

Cons

  • Not a standalone gateway; customer redirected to checkout.shopify.com
  • A$42/mo platform fee on top of processing
  • Checkout leaves the Fancini domain

Online rate is a flat 2.31% with no per-transaction fee. Amex included. In-store card rate is 1.5% (separate from online). eCom is included in your X-Series plan at no extra cost. No extra fee to issue a refund.

Pros

  • You already use Lightspeed X-Series for in-store and online
  • Refunds for online orders from your existing POS terminal
  • eCom already included in your POS subscription
  • Afterpay on online checkout (Afterpay merchant fees apply). Klarna in-store only
  • Stock and orders can stay in one system across your stores and the website

Cons

  • 2.31% online is the highest processing rate of the three
  • More setup on our side than Stripe; we handle the integration for you

Further considerations

  • Online orders and payments appear in your Lightspeed sales history
  • Refunds from your existing till (Sell → Sales history)
  • Lightspeed can be your source of truth for stock; we connect it to the website

Your plan: During our visit to your store we were able to create an API token from your Lightspeed dashboard. Lightspeed only enables that on the Plus plan (A$329/mo) or on legacy Pro/Enterprise plans, so we are assuming you are on one of those tiers.

Refund process

  • Lightspeed: Sell → Sales history → select order → Return items → Refund → Lightspeed Payments. Inventory and eCom status update automatically. Your Retail POS is the system of record.
  • Stripe: Refunds via the Stripe Dashboard. Online orders do not appear in your Lightspeed sales history.
  • Shopify: Refunds via Shopify Admin. Does not appear in your Lightspeed POS sales history.
